International Ministry

This section provides an overview of our current International Ministry work. Some of these works also impact our other ministry areas. In these cases, we have provided links to the appropriate details. For an overview of past International Ministry works, please see our International Ministry Archives.

Gateway of Hope -- Kenya

Gateway has organized a number of different ministry works in Kenya since 1989. These include crusades, building churches, and building orphanages for the children in this area. Currently, we continue to work with and provide support for these orphans, as their needs are unending. Our goal is to provide safe, adequate housing for the AIDS orphans and disadvantaged children/youth, while also assisting with their schooling and financial needs.

Pastor Julius Makau, our E. African Director, recently sent his thanks to us and our financial partners:

“Thanks a lot for your continuous support. You have made the difference in so many lives since you came to Africa. Through your support many people have access to God’s word … Some children who would have not made it to school have received education. Their lives would have been wasted. Thank you to all who stand with you in supporting these children. It’s a noble work”
Once a child in Kenya completes their grade school education they must pay approximately $550 per year to stay in school. Obviously most cannot afford this and the result is a great disadvantage for their future. The children we support began their new school year in January of this year, so we are seeking donations to keep them in school for another and to add new students. Please pray for these children and consider supporting them through our “Gifts of Hope” program in 2007.

New Orphanage Under Construction
We recently received a significant breakthrough when an organization agreed to partner with Pastor Julius Makau and Gateway to help build the orphanage in Kenya that Bev has dreamed and prayed about for many years.

Bev held her first crusades in this region among the Kamba Tribe and helped plant several churches and build new buildings. At the time Pastor Julius had a small stick church holding about 35 people. Today he has planted some 20 churches and preaches to about 300 in one of the churches we built.

The orphanage is now under construction and when finished will house 61 children. Pastor Julius and his church oversee the operations.

Testimonies from the Kenyan Children

Dear Brethren,

I salute you in the holy name of Jesus Christ who has made us ours. Its with great joy I write this short email to you, thanking you very much for being there for me in my life’s greatest need. When I lost my mum after my dad had died 2 years later, I thought all the world was collapsed. My schooling, my life’s dreams like they were shattered. Only to find that God of the widow of Zerephat was still alive and his good people who can help his children in need like Elisha did. When Pastor Makau Julius broke the news to me that morning it was a bright new day in my life. I joined form one and next year am going for my fourth form. Words cannot explain my joy. Thank you thank you Gateway Ministry and all the good people who donated towards my schooling. May the God who is rich in mercy remember to richly bless you. Thank you again. Much love to all of you.

Your little sister and daughter,

Beth Ndaki

Dear Gateway Board and Donors,

Greetings in the name of Jesus Christ.

My heart is overwhelmed as I write this small message of appreciation for the support you have given to me in my education. I don’t know how to thank you. I don’t know any of you and I wonder how it can happen even today. That tells me you are Godly people, full of love for Christ’s people.

If it had not been for you I would become useless but now I see a future a brighter one because you are paying for my education.

Both of my parents are dead and last year I lost both my grandparents. I had no one to run to. I joined Pastor Julius’s church while in Sunday school because God knew through him I will get my education. A faithful man who can be trusted. May the Lord bless all of you out there plus my pastor. I am grateful, thanks.

Yours in his love,

Isika Kisove

First Nation Network
Our 2007 Esther Prayer Fast & Vigil (April 2-9, 2007) focused on the Native Peoples of America and we are continuing to cover this people group through 2008. We have received further confirmations from the Lord regarding His revelations for the Native Peoples:

In November, Dr. Chandrakumar, our Director for India, spent several weeks with us and we were able to travel together to Vancouver, B.C. and share in an IGSM Graduation Ceremony for one of our graduate students. Pastor Edgar Lapiceros is Filipino, but is called by the Lord to work with the First Nation Tribes throughout Vancouver Island and western Canada. He is a very humble and dedicated servant of God who is a great representative for what we are trying to accomplish through the graduate school. It was a divine appointment for us to connect with this pastor’s vision and call to reach the native tribes of the N.W. Canadian Region.

In addition, the church that hosted our graduation ceremony was pastored by a First Nation tribal leader whose congregation is 80% native people from the surrounding regions. Glory to God! Bev was able to share with this pastor the Lord’s revelations to her regarding the native people. He offered to help her with the research information needed for this region. Recently we were able to meet and pray with Pastor John and Brenda Lorton who pastor on the Quinault Indian Reservation along the Washington coast. They were a great encouragement to us and affirmed the vision.

Calcutta, India Strategy
Over the past few years the Lord has also released several visions and directive words to Bev regarding Calcutta, India. She is researching and spiritually mapping the city for future outreach and strategies to reach into the lives of the people of Calcutta. We have both known for some time the real importance of reaching people groups and have carried the burden to reach entire cities or regions. Thus we are wanting to focus our efforts on specific areas where God is opening doors for fruitful work. The key is organizing strategic targeted intercession and uniting with the pastors and leaders in an area to work together and to develop a vision beyond their own churches or denominations. Both projects could tie in with the work being done through our International Graduate School of Ministry (IGSM) where we focus on the training, equipping, and organizing of pastors and leaders. They would in turn focus their churches and cities with us on the Gateway side for prayer and spiritual warfare with evangelism, discipleship and outreach to the poor, including the orphans. This work would also include new church plants and developing new training centers in each city or region where we minister. What an awesome opportunity as God opens the right doors for us!

A Note to our Current and Potential Ministry Partners
We gratefully thank each one of you for the blessings extended to us throughout the year! The Lord has kept us strong through your prayers and tender loving care.

Your financial gifts and prayers have made deep spiritual inroads into the lives of young and old alike who now walk in new levels of faith and trust in their Lord.

As you know ministry today requires teams with multiple gifts and multiple talents, all working together to accomplish God’s purposes. None of us can or should operate alone. We feel blessed to have had so many people alongside of us over the years we have been ministering. Each one of you has played a major role in helping us in a variety of ways.

We are excited about 2007 and all it holds for us knowing our Lord is carefully directing our steps according to his timetable. While we certainly are not getting any younger, we have not lost any of our passion or zeal for serving the Lord throughout the world. We trust that we have many years of fruitful ministry ahead of us with our partners.

Each year we seek the Lord’s heart and direction for the year. For those of you who are interested, please set aside a day or more to pray and fast with us to cover your personal, future and family needs, and for us and our family.
